Seaside attractions of Corinthia
Heraion
You will travel by one of the most beautiful lakes of Greece, namely the lake of Vouliagmeni. At the cape of Heraion of Perachora or Melangavi, it is located one of the largest beacons of the Corinthian gulf and the Heraion with its enchanting sunsets.
Chiliomodi
South of Corinth, your course passes through the hillocks of mount “Scaroubalo”. Athikia with its red roofs, the beautiful gorge of Vukina, Chiliomodi, with a wonderful native forest ecosystem, a remnant of the largest and oldest forest in the area, are the jewels of the region. Starting from the village Clenia to the ancient town of Tegea, which has raised Oedipus and from there to the large village of Agionorion, you will not cease to discover charming landscapes.
East Corinthia
Next to the Saronic Gulf, East Corinthia is the ideal gateway for hiking through pine-covered areas, small peninsulas and sheltered idyllic coves. Reference point here is the port of Kechreon, one of the most famous harbors in the ancient world.
Kiato
West of Corinth, 22 km away, is the city of Kiato, the second largest urban center of the prefecture and the seat of the Municipality of Sikyona. Its harbour played a significant role in the development of the area, since this is where citruses were exported to the East from. The extremely big beach of Kiato has beach bars, restaurants, tavernas, cafés, it is organised, with umbrellas and sunbeds. In the grove of Panagia, excavations have brought an Early Christian basilica of 5th century to light.
Xylokastro
Xylokastro is located on the south side of the Corinthian Gulf. The excellent tourist infrastructure and the many important events make Xylokastro very attractive for the visitor. The rare diversity of the place is characteristic, with the alternations between the mountainous, semi-mountainous and seaside picturesque villages, the traditional churches and monasteries, the beautiful forests and the enchanting beaches. Trikala villages enhance the tourist interest, as well as the settlements of Sykia, homeland of Kostas Karyotakis and source of inspiration of Angelos Sikelianos.
