The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation is organizing the creative activity “The Magical Lady Sarakosti and the Journey of the Seven Weeks” on Sunday, February 15, 2026 (11:00 a.m.), at the Stymphalia Environment Museum.
Under the guidance of kindergarten teacher Margarita Kyragianni, and through storytelling and experiential games, children aged 6–12 will have the opportunity to learn about the custom of Lady Sarakosti and its symbolism.
Lady Sarakosti is a distinctive kind of calendar that counts the weeks of fasting leading up to Easter. She is depicted as a woman with crossed hands, as she is praying, without a mouth because she is fasting, and with seven legs symbolizing the seven weeks of Lent. According to tradition, one leg was removed every Saturday, indicating how many days of fasting remained.
The activity will continue with a creative workshop, where children will make their own Lady Sarakosti using natural materials and colorful fabrics.
