Το αρχαίο θέατρο Ορχομενού

Το θέατρο της αρχαίας πόλης κατασκευάστηκε κατά τους ελληνιστικούς χρόνους και είναι ένα από τα τέσσερα που διασώζονται στην Αρκαδία. Βρίσκεται στην ανατολική πλαγιά του λόφου της ακρόπολης, μέσα στην αρχαία αγορά. Το σημείο αυτό προσφέρει πανοραμική θέα στην πεδιάδα του Ορχομενού.

Η αρχαία πόλη ιδρύθηκε από τον Ορχομενό, γιο του Λυκάονα, και ο Όμηρος την αναφέρει ως «πολύμηλο». Συγκαταλέγεται σ’ αυτές που συνοίκησαν τη Μεγαλόπολη και υπήρξε μια από τις τρεις ισχυρές πόλεις κράτη-της Αρκαδίας μαζί με τη Μαντινεία και την Τεγέα. 

Κτίστηκε επάνω σε λόφο και ήταν τειχισμένη. Είχε θέατρο, αγορά, βουλευτήριο και το ιερό της Αρτέμιδος Μεσοπολίτιδος με ναό και βωμό.

Το θέατρο της αρχαίας πόλης κατασκευάστηκε κατά τους ελληνιστικούς χρόνους και είναι ένα από τα τέσσερα που διασώζονται στην Αρκαδία.

Βρίσκεται στην ανατολική πλαγιά του λόφου της ακρόπολης, μέσα στην αρχαία αγορά, σε σημείο που προσφέρει πανοραμική θέα στην πεδιάδα του Ορχομενού. 

Θεωρείται πως είχε περισσότερες από 40 σειρές εδωλίων και ότι η χωρητικότητά του υπερέβαινε τους 4.000 θεατές. Ανατολικά του θεάτρου ήταν το προσκήνιο και η σκηνή.

Ήξερες ότι

Ο προϊστορικός Ορχομενός είχε ιδρυθεί στους πρόποδες της ακρόπολης.

O αρχαιολογικός χώρος είναι κοντά στο Λεβίδι. 

Το Λεβίδι
Η κωμόπολη είναι κτισμένη στις παρυφές του Μαινάλου, σε υψόμετρο 850. Προσφέρει αρκετές επιλογές διαμονής σε παραδοσιακούς ξενώνες, ταβέρνες, καφέ, μαγαζιά με τοπικά προϊόντα και κρασιά της Μαντινείας.
Στην πλατεία του Λεβιδίου θα δείτε την προτομή του Αλέξανδρου Παπαναστασίου, πολιτικού των αρχών του 20ου  αι., ηγέτη του δημοκρατικού φιλελεύθερου χώρου, πρωθυπουργού και ιδρυτή του καθεστώτος της Αβασίλευτης Δημοκρατίας (1924). Καταγόταν από εδώ και το 1976 οι συντοπίτες του τον τίμησαν μετατρέποντας το σπίτι του σε μουσείο.
Το Αρκαδικό μουσείο Τέχνης και Ιστορίας, στο συγκρότημα εναλλακτικού τουρισμού «Δρυάδες», στεγάζει μια ενδιαφέρουσα συλλογή με έργα τέχνης δυτικοευρωπαίων και Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών από τον 16ο έως τον 20ο αι.
Στην τοποθεσία Κάτω Βρύση με τους 14 κρουνούς θα βρείτε έναν ωραίο χώρο αναψυχής. Στα παλιά χρόνια οι κάτοικοι μετέφεραν από εδώ με βαρέλια νερό στα σπίτια, πότιζαν τα ζώα και έπλεναν χαλιά.
Στα 2 χλμ. από το Λεβίδι βρίσκεται ο βυζαντινός ναός της Παναγίας Λεβιδίου. 

Ήξερες ότι

Το Λεβίδι απέχει περίπου 25 χλμ. από την Τρίπολη.
